Aaliyah & Rashad: Rare Photo

Courtesy to AaliyahAlways for coming across this rare gem via Rashad's Twitter! This is such a beautiful picture of both of them! I also noticed that it bares resemblance to another one I showed you guys awhile back, and thanks to my great visual memory I was correct! ;) This picture was taken in 1996 at @iamchachiiii Homecoming with Aaliyah. If you look carefully, her outfit is exactly the same in both pictures (You can check this out below). Her date also confirmed that this was taken at his parents house, and that the picture on the wall (above) is of his sister. Aaliyah's date was also on the other side of her but cropped out of the picture with Rashad.

It's always nice to know these little facts behind each picture, so thank you for sharing that information with us all :o)

So, I am all for tributes being done with respect and dignity when it comes to Aaliyah, and I happened to come across this tribute, thanks to one of my followers @chiineey who kindly shared this with me ;) I was blown away at not only at the fact that he was covering Aaliyah's One In A Million but also covering R.Kelly's- R&B Thug and Jodeci's- Feenin' under this classic Timbaland beat! Aaliyah: On The Set Of ‘More Than A Woman’

Aaliyah: Rare Photo

Repost from @sonyasspotlight: “With everyone talking about the #Lifetime #AaliyahMovie, I just thought I’d share a photo I took with the talented and beautiful Aaliyah back in the 90s. I loved her music (still have all of it on CDs). Aaliyah had a sweet spirit to go along with her angelic singing voice and blossoming acting career. But nobody should bash the acting of #AlexandraShipp who played Aaliyah in the Lifetime TV biopic. She’s a talented actress (it’s not easy out there for Black actresses y’all), and I thought she did well in both the #AaliyahMovie & in #Drumline. Everyone who knew Aaliyah or who was a fan of hers is protective of her legacy, but let’s all #StayPositive. R.I.P” #Aaliyah”

Repost from @mstammimac: “Just thought I’d say something nice. All this dogging about the movie. So sad:( …… Traveled with her a few times on the road. On 13th November, 2001 marked the day Aaliyah released her single, so in honor of this special day, I thought it would be nice to share with you all some unreleased scenes from the music video, synced with the Bud'da remix called Still More Than A Woman  (which is one of my favorite remixes!) Special thanks to Maximum Aaliyah for the footage and LewSpally87 for making this video! This is too dope beyond words! I hope one day we can get to see these scenes in HD! Enjoy! :D :o)

Aaliyah Archives: Da Bassment Interview Part 2

So y'all know I had to do a special blog post for the late, great Static Major. On the 11th of this month marked his 40th Birthday. So as a special tribute, we shall be giving you part 2 of Da Bassment interview courtesy of Trevor Banks who happened to kindly share this. It was also Devante's idea to keep us feenin' for more! ;) So if you missed the first part of the interview you can check it out here. Happy reading everyone! :o)

DA BASSMENT PT.2 Interview...

1. When was the first time you tasted success?

Static Major: Man Ummm.. When I first tasted success was after me being in the game for 6 or 7 years. At that point it started feeling like a job.

2. Now are you going to try and get into a competition with R. Kelly?

Static Major: Yeah .. definitely. I feel like he really is my only competition. I'm not taking anything away from the newbies coming up, but they aren't as seasoned as i am. Most artists call me up to write or do the song for them. Myself, I'm self contained, and it don't really matter who does a track for me whether its Timbaland, Scott Storch,Jim Jonsin ,or a no name producer. At the end of the day it boils down to just doing the track.

3. What happened with Blackground as far as Playa's second album is concerned?

Smoke E Digglera: We never did sign with Blackground. Blackground was our management. We were signed to Def Jam on our first album. We ended up getting off of Def Jam, and from there we started working on the new album with the aspirations of getting signed to another label. We felt like it wouldn't be a huge problem getting signed again. Blackground probably would of signed us as a group, but we never got around to that. I mean , we did work on an album, but Playa ended up going on the road with the Ladies Night Out Tour. After that, everyone started working on their solo albums.

4. Why was there a fallout with Da Bassment. Was it because DeVante was trying to be an artist, producer, songwriter and a CEO at the same time?

Bazaar Royale (Da Boogieman) : I really don't know, I was too young to know what was happening. To me, everything was moving along just fine as far as I could see. Didn't really know the business aspect of it. But I did have fun.

5. Did you record any joints back then?

Bazaar Royale ( Da Boogieman): Yeah, I had a few joints out back then. We recorded all the time. Da Bassment was our job, and we were like on some Motown shit, for real.

6. I heard if DeVante was to walk in the building you had to have something hot cookin?

Digital Black (of Playa): Most definitely...There was always something dope going on, cuz everybody was talented. You might go in one room, Stevie J would be cookin something. Go in another room, Timbaland, Sugah, Magoo ect.. would be cookin something. Come in our room, Playa would be cookin something, Everybody was getting on each other's tracks. Missy & Timbaland were way ahead of their time. It was a great situation to be in for all of us...

Aaliyah Archives: News (EXCLUSIVE)

So as you guys know, I recently shared with you all some video snippets from producer Eric Seats who worked with the red album crew. He was kind enough to share his original working files from Aaliyah's Rock The Boat and It's Whatever, plus and added bonus of a never before heard official remix of Rock The Boat, which was created back in 2001! Wow! All I can say is that this sounds really current! Hardly surprising considering how Aaliyah's last album still sounds fresh to this day. All the producers on this album really knew what they were doing, and it shows since they have created longevity within their body of work.

Now we all know that this year has been a tough one for all TRUE Aaliyah fans out there, with everything that has been going on with this 'film drama'. I refuse to even acknowledge this ignorance on my blog anymore, since I just wanna keep it drama and negative free. I began this journey of blogging through positivity and it shall remain that way! :o)

With every bad moment, some good always tends to prevail over, and I am so excited to announce that all the producers from Aaliyah's self titled red album, will be uniting to make a special tribute on her 36th Birthday next year! How dope is that right? :D I have already shared with you a couple remixes which have come to surface already, so my guesses are that a remix album might be in the works. Ok, so I am not one for blowing my own trumpet, as I am humble as they can get, but I remember ages ago speaking to Eric Seats and mentioned the idea of a remix album and how all the producers from that album should come together. Here is the conversation we had which you can view below...

As you can see Eric agreed :o) I was also being a little cheeky towards the end! Lol! Can't blame a girl for trying though! ;) To hear Aaliyah's accapella on her red album would be amazing though! :D With that being said, I am glad the man has stuck by his word, because now, he's putting everything into action! Woooo! :D Seats also mentioned that he is planning to put the Rock The Boat (remix) version on his Sidooo Vol 2 album. So be sure to peep that out in the near future. If you still need more convincing, here's another conversation with the likes of J-Dub, Bud'da and Smoke E. Digglera talking about this special Birthday tribute :o)

And here's another one where Eric Seats himself, confirms this with one of my favorite Aaliyah fan pages Maximum Aaliyah ;) 2015 definitely plans on being a good year for all Aaliyah fans! Are you ready? #TeamAaliyah ;) :D

Aaliyah: The INFLUENTI/\L

So I found a couple of surprises that came with my crewneck! I had no idea until I checked the rest of my parcel! Lol! But me being the creative person that I am, I have a lot of random postcard collages, and thought this would look great next to my Aaliyah poster. Its weird because it's as if they were all meant to be together. One of them says..."The city lights glowed in the distance" very appropriate right? ;) But anyhoo...if you're not familiar, please check out @theinfluential for original, innovative designs by the lovely @aaliyahalways :o)

So my baby finally arrived from @theinfluential a.k.a.- @aaliyahalways Thank you soooo much lovely! Everything from the material, colour and design is spot on. Exactly how I wanted it! This is my very first purchase from the store, so I was really excited about this one. The quality is amazing. Not too restricting and keeps you warm too. Which is a plus for me, since its freezing in the UK! Lol! I def plan on purchasing more in the near future, since it's very hard to find Aaliyah merch over here, in comparison to the states. No matter where I am I will always rep the Queen to the fullest. :o)
